A recent article in CERTIFIED™ entitled ACE-SUPPORTED RESEARCH: Promoting Healthy Eating Habits With the ACE Mover Method™ outlined a study conducted at Western Colorado University that examined whether brief, individualized coaching using the ACE Mover Method and ACE ABC Approach™ embedded into a personalized exercise program could help people improve their eating habits. Specifically, they looked at the consumption of fruits, vegetables and fiber.
If you haven’t yet read that article, be sure to do so, as it provides evidence to support the use of the ACE Mover Method as part of your training programs. The researchers found that incorporating the ACE Mover Method into conversations with clients led to substantial increases in the consumption of fruits, vegetables and fiber (by 37.0%, 19.1% and 25.2%, respectively), as well as improvements in a number of important health measures.
Of course, this all sounds great in theory. But how exactly can personal trainers learn to use this protocol in their day-to-day work? In response to that question, ACE has created the ACE Mover Method™ Healthy Eating Coaching Guide, which provides a framework for helping clients eat more fruits, vegetables and fiber—one conversation at a time. These dietary changes may seem like a small victory, but they can have a real impact on a client’s health, now and into the future.
