ACE Profiles | Matt Petersen

I was a jock growing up, but that was ended my senior year in high school with a knee injury that led to knee reconstruction of two ligaments. My future plans had been to enter the Air Force Academy, but that was no longer possible. As my life slow spiraled out of control I found my love in working out again and found motivation through taking some wellness classes in college. I decided to change my major to Health Promotion and Wellness -- something that would help me forever that I would enjoy studying, along with working with people that want help. As I worked as a trainer, my love for competition began to build, and I found a new love for training and racing the triathlon. I started to compete. I was not great from the beginning. But now, after 12 years of competing, I have competed in more than 70 triathlons and have completed 10 Ironman races. I plan to see what I can create in myself and in others as I help them reach for their pursuits!
