ACE Profiles | Robin Marion

I am retired military (U.S. Army) after serving almost 22 years. One of my most memorable duties was that of drill sergeant. I was able to shape and mold new soldiers not only from a mental aspect, but a physical one. I became a master fitness trainer while in the military and later followed suit with a personal training certification. Having experienced military fitness training myself, I realized that although the training was good, it only provided the necessary things to pass the fitness tests. There was not much information provided to help people with overall fitness, nutrition and sustainment.

Between military and civilian fitness training, I have more than 13 years of experience. I believe that many people want to do better and live healthier lives, but many do not know what to do or where to start. Providing that information and assistance to help them reach their goals and take ownership of their health is important.

I believe being fit is not just physical. It is mental, emotional and spiritual. My approach to fitness and health with my clients is one of a partnership. We are working together to achieve a common goal. I focus on cardio, strength training, core strength, flexibility, and nutrition, as well as positive thinking and attitude. The mind can be your best or worst ally. Many people will talk themselves out of anything and provide a mental obstacle to their success. I provide my clients with a support and accountability system.

We all have our struggles and obstacles in some form or fashion. The key is to not let those struggles and challenges define you. My philosophy to a healthy lifestyle is fitness and health is a journey. There are no quick fixes, only hard work, determination, consistency and honesty. Fitness and healthy living should never be a hobby. It is a lifestyle. Transformation starts with the mind and the body will follow.

I am very passionate about what I do and love helping people achieve their goals. I think fitness should have a basic foundation but also be tailored toward each individual. I always aim to change an individual's mindset first because it's the biggest road block. Some level of fitness can be achieved by anyone for the most part. It's just a matter of people wanting to do it and as a trainer, it's important to be able to reach those people and show them how. I truly love what I do.

I've had my own challenges during my life (high cholesterol, high blood pressure, etc.) and I've always been a hard gainer in terms of weight. But intense activity caused me to drop weight quickly, often leaving me sick. But my commitment to doing and being better has allowed me a second and fifth place in a figure competition, complete over 45 road races (half and full marathons), and a triathlon.

I encourage my clients to push and challenge themselves, but I'm always right there supporting. I bring compassion, motivation, support and encouragement to your training experience. I strive to unlock the potential that lies within you. It would be my pleasure to put my extensive experience to work for you.
