ACE Profiles | Linda Gottlieb

I never set out to be a fitness professional. Loving movement, my early years were spent in dance class and losing myself in the beat of all genres of music. In the early 1980s, I decided to become an aerobic dance instructor in the shadow of Jane Fonda, Denise Austin and that handsome hunk, Gilad. Through the decades I studied the awesome power of exercise, committed to live an active life and helped others do the same. The best part of my work is watching people claim the healthy and fit life they dream of, and deserve. As a student of human behavior, I’ve always wondered what makes people do what they do. I hear from folks who have received my newsletters for years and one day, becoming more fit makes it to the top of their to do list and I get a call. For most people, getting and staying fit requires only a slight change in daily actions: small, realistic steps that anyone can accomplish. The return on this investment is spectacular.

I have been a group exercise instructor, personal trainer, club fitness director, wellness consultant, speaker and author of "No Ifs Ands Or Butts: How to Turn the Top 10 Exercise Excuses into Fitness Triumphs," celebrating my client’s success stories through real-life anecdotes. I'm even a P90X certified trainer!

My greatest accomplishments, however, have been achieving certified cancer trainer designation and working on a five-year clinical trial for a prestigious university researching the impact of exercise on quality of life in the cancer survivor community. This incredible opportunity offered me exposure to clinical trials and the outstanding developments that result from scientific research. I am encouraged and very enthusiastic about the blending of exercise and medicine that is taking place today. My experience with courageous cancer survivors has reinforced how much we can impact a life while learning from each other, all with the goal of a happy, healthy lifestyle in mind.
