Staying healthy and active can be a financial struggle for many Americans, especially parents and families. There has been a cultural shift in which competitive junior teams have replaced the afterschool cul de sac soccer games, and longer classes and more homework have replaced recess. The good news is, there are solutions to easing these financial burdens to help us become and stay active. The Personal Health Investment Today (PHIT) Act (H.R. 1267/S. 482), currently pending in Congress, would allow Americans to use their Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) for things like sports leagues, swim lessons, dance classes and gym memberships.
