Youth athletes need to excel in speed, strength and endurance. As sports performance coaches, we need to develop training programs that address all three of these variables to help youth athletes become multi-directional movers. In this ACE LiveClass, Melissa Myers, M.S., CSCS, ACE Certified Personal Trainer and co-owner of 1RM Performance, will discuss how to build effective training programs that incorporate various movements important for this population.
You will learn:
• Considerations for training multi-directional youth athletes
• How to develop a training program for youth athletes with long and short term goals in mind
• Programming a workout to develop strength, power, speed and endurance in youth athletes
This class is more about training a high school female volleyball player than it is about training youth athletes. Very little overview of training youth in general. Reviewed a number of exercises that most adults do. Would have been nice to focus more on younger athletes rather than a girl who was 3 weeks away from starting a college volleyball team.
