Youth athletes need to excel in speed, strength and endurance. As sports performance coaches, we need to develop training programs that address all three of these variables to help youth athletes become multi-directional movers. In this ACE LiveClass, Melissa Myers, M.S., CSCS, ACE Certified Personal Trainer and co-owner of 1RM Performance, will discuss how to build effective training programs that incorporate various movements important for this population.
You will learn:
• Considerations for training multi-directional youth athletes
• How to develop a training program for youth athletes with long and short term goals in mind
• Programming a workout to develop strength, power, speed and endurance in youth athletes
I enjoyed this course. I liked how it gave a framework on how to program a workout for a youth athlete based on an individual sport. I found the speaker enjoyable and engaging.
Had some great information but I felt like the time could have been better spent focusing on the explanation of HOW to design training plans for young athletes rather than showing a lot of movement examples. I'm not really sure what I got out of watching a high school senior doing these movements anyway as she is barely a "youth athlete" considering she can train like an adult.
