Ted Vickey, Ph.D., is the Founder & President of FitWell, Inc., a San Diego-based consulting company specializing in entrepreneurship, innovation and emerging technology within the fitness industry. He is also a professor at Point Loma University in the Master's program in the School of Kinesiology, teaching classes with research interests in fitness management, wellness entrepreneurship, disruptive health technologies, professional ethics and fitness center design. From 2004-2015, Dr. Vickey was the Executive Director of the White House Athletic Center in Washington, D.C. during the Bush, Clinton and Bush Administrations, serving the health and fitness needs of the President and his staff. His Ph.D. research combined social networking through Twitter, physical activity and mobile technology. He collected over 3 million tweets and created a fitness classification model that can predict a person's physical activity level more accurately than the current methodology used for HealthPeople 2020. Dr. Vickey is an emeritus member of the board of directors for the American Council on Exercise and has been ACE certified since 1994.
