Slanted Risers are a pair of angled step risers designed specifically for use with the Original Club Step™. Instead of the traditional flat orientation of the step platform, the Slanted Risers produce an angled surface from which users can perform aerobic exercise, strength training, or stretching. The Slanted Risers can be combined with traditional flat risers and the Original Club Step to allow the performance a variety of modifications of traditional step exercises as well as new exercises unique to the slanted design. Included with the purchase of the Slanted Riser is a 90-minute instructional DVD with three, 30-minute exercise programs consisting of strength, aerobic, and interval workouts.
What we liked:
- The Slanted Risers allow the exerciser to perform a wide variety of aerobic, strength, and flexibility exercises, especially when combined with the Original Club Step and risers. For example, the user can easily switch between an incline bench and a decline bench position without changing the equipment.
- Aside from more exercise variety, the Slanted Risers allow more exercise modifications by manipulating the affects of gravity on body position, thus providing a format for any fitness level.
- For some exercises (such as the lunge), the Slanted Risers allow more range of motion, which can increase the intensity of the exercise compared to the traditional flat surface of the step.
- The Slanted Risers are portable and easily stored when not in use.
- The instructional DVD that accompanies the Slanted Risers is produced well, offers a variety of exercise options, and is easy to follow.
What we didn't like:
- The Slanted Risers must be paired with the Original Club Step, so if you don’t already own one, you’ll have to purchase the step as well.
- Some of the exercises demonstrated on the accompanying DVD are shown with the exerciser lying on or placing the knees directly on the surface of the step platform, which can be uncomfortable for anyone with joint problems. (An appropriate fix for this issue is to place an exercise mat on the surface of the step platform for these specific exercises.)
