At the height of its popularity, Tamilee Webb’s Buns of Steel and related videos sold more than 10 million units. In this DVD, Webb returns to the workouts that made her famous, combining favorite exercises from her Abs of Steel, Buns of Steel, and Arms of Steel DVDs. The workouts begin with a traditional aerobics warm-up followed by one or more of the 15-minute targeted workouts, which utilize hand weights and a step. Exercise selection is both varied and challenging, which keeps each workout from feeling boring or repetitious. Beginning exercisers may find some of the transitions somewhat difficult to follow, but this should resolve after doing the workouts a few times. Additionally, the “buns” workout, which is done standing using a step, provides a bit of a cardio challenge as well. The DVD also includes a 15-minute yoga workout by Stacy McCarthy, which is little more than an introduction to yoga exercises. Experienced yoga participants will find less value in this segment.

Overall, The Best of Tamilee offers effective targeted training led by a seasoned instructor. Webb’s cuing and exercise selection are very good and her workouts will appeal to those looking for traditional-style training.

What we liked:

  • Safe and varied exercise selection, which keeps workouts from feeling boring or repetitious
  • 15-minutes workouts that can be done alone or in combination for a longer workout

What we didn’t like:

  • 15-minute yoga segment appeals only to those who are new to yoga
