From attending holiday parties, shopping for gifts and decordating your home to cooking for and entertaining the family, the hustle and bustle of the holidays have the potential to wreak havor on your physical and mental health. Several experts weigh in with some healthy holiday hacks to navigate this joyful-but-stressful season.

Workout and Enlist Others to Join

Exercise doesn't always have to mean a rigorous workout, says Sabrena Jo, senior director of science and research at the American Council on Exercise. She suggests incorporating movement into everyday, whether that means a 20-minute after-dinner walk or morning stretches. The key is consistency and being mindful of your body's needs. "Pushing yourself too hard can lead to injuries, while doing too little can make you feel sluggish," Jo advises. "Find a balance that works for you." 

Also, Jo suggests making exercise a group event with family or friends. If you're in a snowy area, build a snowman, have a snowball fight or go sledding. Play your favorite holiday tunes and have a spontaneous dance party. Or participate as a group in a festive-themed walk or fun run during the holidays.
