Katina is an intellectual property and business lawyer based in Denver, Colorado, where she works as Senior Corporate Counsel for HCL Technologies Limited (HCL), a $7 billion multinational information technology company. Prior to joining HCL, Katina served as Vice President & Associate Counsel at Urban Fulfillment Services, LLC, a mortgage services business process outsourcing company, and was a Visiting Associate Professor at the University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law, where she taught contracts and intellectual property courses. While in law school, Katina served as Associate Editor of the Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Curia honorary society. Following law school, she practiced law at Dorsey & Whitney LLP, in Denver, and helped lead the Trademark, Copyright and Brand Management group. She is an alumnus of the Denver Chamber of Commerce’s Impact Denver leadership program, and a Denver Business Journal Forty Under 40 honoree. Katina earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees from the University of Pennsylvania: one in Political Science from the School of Arts and Sciences and one in Communication from the Annenberg School for Communication. She graduated summa cum laude from Capital University Law School.
As a Denver native, Katina has been dedicated to giving back to the community and her profession throughout her legal career. In addition to mentoring law school students from diverse backgrounds, Katina has served on the boards of directors and judicial appointment committees of Colorado’s black attorney and GLBT attorney bar associations. Katina has also held numerous civic engagement roles within the community, including service for eight years on the Colorado Civil Rights Commission and five years on the board of directors for One Colorado, a LGBTQ advocacy and education organization.
Currently, she is the Chair of the Denver Citizens Oversight Board, to which she was appointed by the Mayor in March 2016.
