ACE and Eden Health Announce Partnership to Advance Education on Obesity Medications for Fitness Professionals
Posted: Oct 07, 2026 in ACE Press Releases
SAN DIEGO, Calif., Oct. 7, 2026 – The American Council on Exercise (ACE) and Eden Health today announced a new partnership aimed at advancing education and support for health and fitness professionals working with individuals using GLP-1 and other obesity medications. As part of the collaboration, ACE has launched Coaching Clients on Obesity Medications, a continuing education course designed to help personal trainers, health coaches, group fitness instructors and other exercise professionals safely and effectively support this growing population.
The partnership brings together the expertise of ACE in evidence-based fitness education and behavior change coaching with Eden Health's innovative approach to making obesity care more accessible. Through the collaboration, fitness professionals can gain the knowledge needed to support clients using obesity medications while also learning how to collaborate effectively with healthcare providers and remain within their professional scope of practice.
"As the use of GLP-1 and other obesity medications continues to grow, health and exercise professionals need credible, evidence-based guidance to effectively support clients throughout their health journey," said ACE chief executive officer Cedric X. Bryant, PhD, FACSM. "Our collaboration with Eden Health helps bridge the gap between healthcare and fitness by providing professionals with the education, tools and confidence needed to help clients pair medical treatment with physical activity, health habits and sustainable lifestyle behavior change."
The growing use of obesity medications, including GLP-1 therapies, has created new opportunities and responsibilities for health and fitness professionals. While these medications can play an important role in comprehensive obesity treatment, regular physical activity, resistance training, behavior change support and other healthy lifestyle behaviors remain critical components of overall health, physical function and long-term wellbeing.
"The rapid evolution of obesity care is creating new opportunities to improve health outcomes through collaboration between healthcare providers and fitness professionals," said Joshua Khan, co-founder and president of Eden Health. "By partnering with ACE, we are helping build a network of educated, qualified professionals who understand how exercise, behavior change and medical treatment can work together to support individuals on their health journey. Our goal is to make evidence-based obesity care accessible where people are already pursuing healthier lifestyles, including gyms and fitness facilities.”
Designed for health and exercise professionals, the course equips participants with the knowledge and skills to support clients using obesity medications. Topics include obesity as a chronic disease, exercise strategies that support muscle function and long-term health and wellbeing, evidence-based coaching techniques, and collaboration with healthcare providers to support coordinated, client-centered care while staying within professional scope of practice.
