BEAVERTON, OREGON—FitLife Club Network, which operates 68 fitness centers serving 250,000 members in the Pacific Northwest, has named the American Council on Exercise (ACE) as its preferred certification organization.

Through this alliance, all fitness professionals working for a FitLife facility will eventually become ACE certified. ACE, the largest nonprofit fitness certifying organization, sets the standards for certification in the fitness industry. Since 1985, nearly 165,000 people have taken ACE exams. Currently, there are approximately 50,000 active ACE-certified fitness professionals in the U.S. and 77 other countries.

ACE Faculty will be dispatched to train FitLife professionals as personal trainers and/or group fitness instructors, and to provide continuing education on business development skills, exercise techniques and practical training programs. As the partnership progresses, FitLife fitness professionals can become ACE Master Practical Trainers, allowing them to train fellow professionals. This will benefit their careers and the level of service provided at FitLife clubs.

“FitLife owners and staff recognize the American Council on Exercise as an industry leader in fitness training,” said FitLife chairman Steve Shapiro. “When we say a staff person is ‘ACE-certified’ that really means something to our members and to our other staff professionals. ACE has a variety of programs, an established track record, and shares with FitLife the desire to develop innovative approaches that will help club owners, managers, trainers, and instructors increase our ability to serve our members as we grow our business.”

The first for-profit athletic club company of its kind, FitLife is comprised of 68 clubs, all meeting specific standards and criteria, located in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and California. The purpose of FitLife is twofold. First, its mission is to promote and enhance the success and profitability of their partner clubs. Secondly, FitLife is dedicated to club excellence in service and facilities and to ensuring the safety and education of their members.
