ACE Names Janet Frenkel Chief Operating Officer
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (July 21, 2011) —The American Council on Exercise (ACE), America’s leading authority on fitness and the world’s largest nonprofit fitness certification, education and training organization, today announced the promotion of Janet Frenkel to chief operating officer. Frenkel previously served as executive vice president of marketing and sales for the organization.
In the newly created position, Frenkel is responsible for the implementation and execution of the American Council on Exercise’s overall strategic objectives as well as providing operational leadership for ACE’s core and consumer business. She brings more than 20 years of leadership and management experience in behavioral economics and the fitness and healthcare industries to the position.
“Janet has been instrumental in helping cement ACE’s position as the nation’s authority on fitness,” said American Council on Exercise CEO Scott Goudeseune. “She is empowering our team to implement cutting-edge professional education techniques and progressive consumer fitness tools. We created the COO position to maximize Janet’s expertise and talent, and fuel her ability to further grow the American Council on Exercise brand nationally.”
Prior to joining ACE, Frenkel served as chief executive officer and founder of The Frenkel Group, Inc., a management consulting firm focused on the healthcare sector where she specialized in leadership development, member satisfaction, operational efficiency, succession planning and employee engagement. Earlier in her career, Frenkel honed her leadership skills as a managing director for Leadership Forward, Inc., a healthcare consulting firm, and as a managing partner with The Gallup Organization, where she led high level management consulting teams in the nonprofit healthcare sector and many Fortune 500 companies. Frenkel also has extensive experience within the fitness industry, including fitness center sales and management, group fitness instruction and business coaching to personal trainers.
Frenkel received her Bachelor of Science from Florida State University and is a graduate of numerous leadership and management development programs including The University of Florida School of Business, The Gallup School of Management and Dale Carnegie.
