ACE equips our certified exercise professionals and health coaches to help those who need it most. As part of this effort, we just launched a new continuing-education course, Diabetes Prevention Coaching, to train certified exercise professionals and health coaches to be more valuable contributors to the diabetes-prevention team. Type 2 diabetes is one of the greatest public health problems of our time – more than 30 million Americans live with type 2 diabetes and another 84 million have from prediabetes. Many exercise professionals and health coaches feel called to make a difference in the battle against this chronic disease—and it’s a battle in which they can have a tremendous impact

The brand-new course teaches the causes, consequences and treatments for prediabetes. Takers of this course become prepared to assess individuals’ readiness to make healthy changes to their nutritional choices, to physical-activity habits and overall lifestyle. Most importantly, they learn to deploy appropriate coaching strategies for each “readiness” stage. This course is another way that ACE is equipping exercise professionals and health coaches to apply evidence-based strategies to help those at risk for chronic disease to take charge of their health.
