This course features a new handbook that walks you through the process of becoming a diabetes prevention coach and provides the information, tools and training needed to have a significant impact on the health and quality of life of affected individuals.

This module describes the risk factors and natural course of prediabetes, evidence-based guidelines to help prevent, treat and reverse the natural course of prediabetes, and best practices for a multidisciplinary team to optimize prediabetes and diabetes outcomes.
This module outlines the process of developing a behavior-change plan based on a client’s readiness to change. The lesson provides an introduction to motivational interviewing, key adult learning principles, and the three pillars of diabetes self-management. It also outlines key principles for designing successful behavior-change interventions.
This module describes the role of nutrition in the prevention and treatment of prediabetes, along with the general nutrition guidelines for individuals with prediabetes. It also provides actionable tips and nutrition information to help individuals with prediabetes make healthful nutrition choices.
This module describes the effect of physical activity on the natural course of prediabetes, explains the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans and how they apply to individuals with prediabetes and outlines how to design a basic exercise program for an individual with prediabetes that takes individual factors into consideration.
This module brings coaching concepts presented in this course to life with realistic coaching scenarios. It identifies several potential resources to support the development and implementation of a diabetes prevention program, explores how to effectively communicate with physicians and other healthcare providers who may be a source of referrals and outlines how to develop and implement a marketing plan to increase program reach.
This module brings together all the information learned in the first five modules in a final test.
