In the last decade, large numbers of people have been exposed to traumatic events form wars, natural disasters, violent crime, emotional and physical abuse and more. Many of those people go on to develop PTSD with symptoms that destroy quality of life for those individuals and their loved ones. Traumatized individuals constantly and unconsciously reorganize themselves around the traumatizing event – both physically and emotionally – until their defenses become their new sense of normal. Traumatized individuals did not make the choice to experience this pain in their lives, but the good news is yoga is able to give them back the choice to safely experience their bodies and their emotions in a completely new and healthier way, allowing them to reclaim their lives. This course will prepare you to design a safe, trauma sensitive class including class design, language and specific yogic strategies that have been proven effective for healing and releasing trauma.
