This three hour course will cover the body’s physiological response to sugar. Adverse health effects of sugar will be discussed along with how a healthy person processes sugar verses how a person who is diabetic or pre-diabetic responses to sugar. Participants will learn the role of insulin and glucagon in the transportation of glucose. The connection between different medications and medical conditions that may lead to insulin resistance will also be covered. The course will cover hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia and micro-vascular disease.
