About

With 31 years in the fitness industry, I have experienced the joys and challenges of being a Personal Trainer, Group Fitness Director and Group Fitness Instructor teaching all formats including Boot Camps and High Intensity Aquatic Classes. I am an extremely active mother of four children and grandchildren. I have participated and trained for various sports and especially enjoyed Fitness and Cheerleading competitions. To my surprise, at the age of 41, I was diagnosed with DJD (degenerative joint disease) affecting mainly my hips and spine. Upon diagnosis, I decided that this was unacceptable. Besides Physical Therapy, I needed to prepare for the inevitable by obtaining ALL the information needed to both prolong my surgery and then, return to function quickly after the surgery. In the following five years, I proceeded to do research, take workshops/courses and became an ACE Certified Medical Exercise Specialist. At the age of 46, I had a total hip replacement. I was released from physical therapy and was now on my own. I continued to follow my self-designed pre and post rehabilitative programs both on land and in the water. In less than a year’s time, I was participating in most of my past activities. As the degeneration spread through the following 15 years, it caused my recent total knee replacement. Because our industry has exploded with advanced training in biomechanical and functional rehabilitative techniques, I am again returning to many of the advanced functions to which I was so accustomed and enjoyed. I continue to teach group fitness classes and personal train both in the pool and on land. I developed a pool program called Aquatic Healing to share my knowledge, personal experience and resources with countless individuals whose activities of daily living are challenged because of pain or weakness. In concert with their doctor and physical therapist, I receive heart-felt satisfaction daily seeing them overcome their challenges, ac
