American Council on Exercise statement on passage of H.R. 6199 the “PHIT Bill”

Posted: Jul 26, 2018 in ACE Press Releases

“Today the U.S. House of Representatives cast a long hoped-for vote for preventive health,” said ACE President and Chief Science Officer Dr. Cedric Bryant. “By voting to pass H.R.6199, the House proclaimed yes to allowing Americans to use their Flexible Spending Accounts and Health Savings Accounts to pay for personal training services, group fitness classes, gym memberships, etc. If the bill becomes law, structured physical activity will be more affordable and accessible to more people. That’s exactly what the fight against preventable lifestyle disease needs. The American Council on Exercise (ACE) now urges the U.S. Senate to pass the bipartisan legislation and set the stage for a healthier, more physically active nation.” Working alongside other leading voices in physical activity promotion, ACE has advocated for 12 years for passage of the PHIT Bill.
