ACE Wins 2005 National Health Information Award
"Active Kids" Earns Merit Award for Best Television Public Service Announcement
San Diego, Calif. – Sept. 22, 2005 - The American Council on Exercise (ACE), America’s nonprofit fitness advocate, today announced that it was selected as a winner in the 12th annual National Health Information Awards. The program recognizes the nation’s best consumer health information materials and outreach.
ACE received a Merit Award for Best Television Public Service Announcement for the “Active Kids” piece. This piece is part of a campaign designed to be in direct support of President George W. Bush's Healthier U.S. Initiative to help Americans live longer, better and healthier lives. The PSA emphasizes the need for parents to encourage their children to get active to live healthier, longer lives.
"We were happy to participate in the National Health Information Awards Program and are honored to be selected as a winner," said Kristie Spalding, corporate communications director for ACE. “Our winning entry was chosen from more than 1,000 entries judged by a national panel of health information experts.”
The award program is coordinated by the Health Information Resource Center (HIRC), a national clearinghouse for consumer health information programs and materials. A panel of health information experts from across the nation judged entries based on content, format, success in reaching the targeted audience and overall quality.
ACE would like to recognize Four Square Integrated Media Solutions in San Diego, CA for their involvement in the production and design of the winning public service announcement. To view the award winning PSA, visit www.acefitness.org/media/psa_video.aspx.
