American Council on Exercise (ACE) is First and Only Fitness Certifying Organization to be Granted College Credit Recommendations for its Exams
SAN DIEGO - The American Council on Exercise (ACE) announced today the successful evaluation of its certification exams by the American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service. ACE is now the first and only fitness certifying organization to obtain college credit recommendations for its exams.
Approximately 1100 colleges and universities nationwide recognize the American Council on Education’s college credit recommendations. Students who successfully pass an ACE-certification exam may be able to earn credits toward graduation.
"ACE has set the standard of excellence for fitness professionals for more than 15 years," says ACE’s Certification Director, Tony Ordas. "And the council’s College Credit Recommendations are a validation of that standard."
The College Credit Recommendation Service’s team of content experts recently reviewed ACE’s certification exams, including Group Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer, Lifestyle & Weight Management Consultant, and Clinical Exercise Specialist certifications.Upon completion of the review, the American Council on Education determined that ACE’s certification exams are comparable to college-level coursework and made college credit recommendations accordingly. The Clinical Exercise Specialist certification exam is equivalent to four semester hours and the other certification exams are equivalent to two semester hours.
To determine if your college or university recognizes the college credit recommendations, visit the American Council on Education’s Web site at www.acenet.edu/calec/corporate/partic-univ-U.html. Be sure to contact the appropriate school official since each educational institution makes the final decision in awarding credit.
The American Council on Exercise (ACE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the benefits of physical activity and protecting consumers against unsafe and ineffective fitness products and instruction. As the nation’s "workout watchdog," ACE conducts university-based research and testing that targets fitness products and trends. ACE sets standards for fitness professionals and is the world’s largest nonprofit fitness certifying organization. For more information on ACE and its programs, call (800) 825-3636 or log onto the ACE Web site at www.acefitness.org.
The American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service (formerly ACE/PONSI) was created to evaluate learning in business and industry settings. With mounting concern about America’s "productive edge," organizations in business and industry, as well as local and federal government, are having their in-house training evaluated for possible college credit recommendations.
