About
Abby Kurtz is the owner of Transitions Fitness (formally known as Pea in The Pod Fitness), a mobile, women’s-only, personal training business, located in Indianapolis. She has been in the fitness industry since 2003. She has a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, where she competed as a division I athlete in Cross-Country and Track & Field. She is a nationally certified personal trainer with an emphasis in women’s fitness, prenatal and postnatal fitness, Perimenopause and Postmenopause, and diastasis recti rehabilitation (a common condition of abdominal separation that occurs during pregnancy). She is also a Prenatal and Postnatal Performance Training Specialist with PROnatal. Prior to Transitions Fitness, Abby owned two other successful personal training businesses, House Call Fitness in downtown Chicago and Pea in the Pod Fitness in Boulder, CO. She has also worked in a variety of settings including gyms, hospitals, and physical therapy offices. All of these experiences have led her to a greater knowledge of the body and how it adapts under exercise stimulus. Abby is aware that women are overloaded with fitness misinformation, most of which is not backed by science and is primarily geared toward quick fixes and unrealistic metrics. The fact of the matter is, "fit-fluencers" and AI will never replace quality coaching and expert education. All of this misinformation can leave women feeling ashamed, helpless, and hopeless inside of their own bodies. However, when women have supportive coaching, are armed with the correct program, and learn how to take care of their bodies during life's transitions, they will absolutely uncover the strong bodies and minds that they have always possessed. Abby finds it rewarding to be a small part of the various physical transitions that women go through in their life and takes great pride in empowering women to face each one of them with confidence, strength, and resilience.
