Here Comes the Boom — Personal Training for Active Agers

The Baby Boomer generation is quickly aging into retirement and senior status. The Boomers—those born between 1946 and 1964—are a very large group. There are more than 75 million Baby Boomers in the US. This aging population is much more likely to develop inactivity-related diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. Regular exercise can help stave off these conditions, and is crucial to maintaining health throughout the aging process. According to a study from JAMA Internal Medicine, however, only half of active Baby Boomers follow a regular schedule or exercise program. That’s where you come in.

There are millions of Baby Boomers in need of direction and support when it comes to exercise. This video training will teach you how to coach them, with a specific focus on the brain and body connection that can help combat aging. Erika Quest, Owner of Studio Q Pilates Conditioning, will guide you through the 5 types of aging—chronological, functional, biological, psychological and social—and teach you how to work with clients based on age and ability, so you can help them improve reaction time and overall self-efficacy in performing their activities of daily living (ADLs).

You will learn:

  • The 5 types of aging and understand which ones can be improved.
  • How to identify common special considerations for this population.
  • Specific floor-based intake actions to consider when working with a new client or reviewing an existing client’s progress.
  • How to implement basic workout protocols, neuroplasticity strategies, reaction drills and circuit games.
