The Personal Training Workshop: Client Communication, Assessment and Program Design, is a beginning to intermediate level, interactive hands-on session, focused on the practical application of the key principles that are essential to personal training success. This includes physical assessments and programming, as well as effective client communication and behavior change principles. Using the innovative ACE Integrated Fitness Training® (ACE IFT®) Model, you will learn how to conduct a variety of assessments with your clients—including posture, balance, movement and strength—and then apply the information to the development of progressive, personalized fitness programs that foster long-term commitment among your clients.

You will learn:

  • How to successfully develop rapport with their clients through improved communication skills
  • To identify personality types and stages of behavioral change, and implement appropriate strategies to improve the overall exercise experience to facilitate behavioral change
  • To competently screen clients for risks related to participation in exercise
  • How to conduct physiological assessments and apply programs relevant to the clients' needs and goals that involve the core, balance, flexibility, body composition, aerobic fitness, muscular endurance and strength, and agility

Course Schedule

This was a highly beneficial workshop. Matt Sommer did an outstanding job explaining and apply the principles of the ACE IFT Model. It was beneficial to see him demonstrate the movement patterns and how they directly affected the four phases of this model.

I was disappointed in this workshop. We spent the whole time going over assessments and did not really cover the IFT Model at all. I liked the instructor, though. He was knowledgeable and had indicated that the book had recently been rewritten. I think the materials need to be looked at again or the workshop renamed Assessments 101.
