A Mindful Approach to Exercise Programming for Women’s Overall Health and Fitness
When it comes to training women, it’s vital to take into account their natural hormone cycle and its impact on their biology and physiology. More importantly, you will get better results when you understand how these hormonal changes can be used to improve their fitness regimen and overall health.
In this video training, you will explore the lifespan of a woman’s hormones from early adolescence, 20’s and 30’s, pregnancy to post-partum and focus on the perimenopause, menopause and post-menopause stages. Backed by science and anecdotal evidence from real women, you will gain insight into the best ways to work with these hormonal changes throughout a woman’s various life stages in a continuum-based approach to fitness.
Led by Jiji Pollock, MS, PhD(c), Director of Science for the Institute of Motion who has 30 years of experience working with and researching women of various fitness levels and ages, you will not only gain an understanding of how training female clients is different from training male clients, but how to work with their hormonal status to improve women’s health and fitness, ultimately increasing your client retention and value as an exercise professional.
Upon completion, you will be able to:
- Understand the natural lifecycle of a woman’s hormones, from adolescence to post-menopause
- Communicate with female clients about their menstrual cycle and training
- Consider the various stages of the menstrual cycle and the impact fluctuating hormones have on fitness
- Determine when to train women differently than men during certain life stages, specifically later in life
