Expand Your Impact, Increase Your Income by Coaching Lifestyle-change Strategies to Fight the Diabetes Epidemic

Prediabetes and the subsequent development of type 2 diabetes are among the greatest health risks of our time. More than 30 million Americans have type 2 diabetes and another 84 million suffer from prediabetes, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

If you are looking to make a difference in the fight against diabetes, the Diabetes Prevention Coaching course is for you. This course reinforces your knowledge about healthy habits and equips you to coach clients using evidence-based disease-prevention strategies that address physical activity, nutrition and lifestyle behavior change together. You will learn how to apply behavior-change coaching methods through realistic coaching scenarios. Upon completion of this course, you will become well prepared to create and deliver diabetes prevention strategies, increasing your earning potential and expanding your impact by serving the growing number of people struggling with, or at risk, for diabetes.

This interactive, engaging course is led by board-certified pediatrician and obesity medicine specialist Natalie Digate Muth, MD, MPH, RDN, FAAP, FACSM, nurse practitioner Beth Read, MS, FNP-BC, and health and fitness expert Chet Zelasko, PhD. This course features a new handbook that walks you through the process of becoming a diabetes prevention coach and provides the information, tools and training needed to have a significant impact on the health and quality of life of affected individuals.

Career Outlook

The Diabetes Prevention Coaching course offers a new path forward in your career—a path that includes the potential to boost your income and make a significant impact on the health of the many individuals affected by the epidemic of prediabetes. In fact, according to the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, 90% of people with prediabetes are unaware that they have the condition. Armed with the information and skills contained in the course, you will discover new opportunities to grow your career and become a go-to resource for clients. This expertise in diabetes prevention will also allow you to connect with the healthcare community to form a united front in the crucial battle against diabetes.

You will learn:

  • The causes, consequences and treatments for prediabetes—especially those that include nutrition and activity-based lifestyle changes
  • How to identify an individual’s readiness to make healthy changes and how to use appropriate coaching strategies for each “readiness” stage
  • How to coach clients using evidence-based disease-prevention strategies that address physical activity, nutrition and lifestyle behavior change together

There are no conflicts of interest for any individual in a position to control the content of this educational activity.

All modules include videos, readings from the ACE Diabetes Prevention Coaching Handbook eBook and practical activities. Modules 1, 2, 3 and 4 include a quiz; module 6 includes a final test. To pass the course, you must score 70% or higher on each quiz and the final test.

This module describes the risk factors and natural course of prediabetes, evidence-based guidelines to help prevent, treat and reverse the natural course of prediabetes, and best practices for a multidisciplinary team to optimize prediabetes and diabetes outcomes.
This module outlines the process of developing a behavior-change plan based on a client’s readiness to change. The lesson provides an introduction to motivational interviewing, key adult learning principles, and the three pillars of diabetes self-management. It also outlines key principles for designing successful behavior-change interventions.
This module describes the role of nutrition in the prevention and treatment of prediabetes, along with the general nutrition guidelines for individuals with prediabetes. It also provides actionable tips and nutrition information to help individuals with prediabetes make healthful nutrition choices.
This module describes the effect of physical activity on the natural course of prediabetes, explains the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans and how they apply to individuals with prediabetes and outlines how to design a basic exercise program for an individual with prediabetes that takes individual factors into consideration.
This module brings coaching concepts presented in this course to life with realistic coaching scenarios. It identifies several potential resources to support the development and implementation of a diabetes prevention program, explores how to effectively communicate with physicians and other healthcare providers who may be a source of referrals and outlines how to develop and implement a marketing plan to increase program reach.
This module brings together all the information learned in the first five modules in a final test.

For $249 I would think the handbook would be in a downloadable form for further reference. The way is is online is horrible. The view zooms in and out on it's own. I had a awful time trying to read it as it would not say in a zoomed focus. The content is not in depth enough. Its just an are trying to cover too much in too little time. I am a nationally board certified health and wellness coach and your coaching info is subpar. I waisted my money...I spent $249 for 1 CEU - that's how I have to look at it because all I got from this course is the CEU...NOT ENOUGH KNOWLEDGE! ACE you should be ashamed! I'll never take your courses again. 2 yrs ago I took Nutrition for Fitness and Sports Specialist courses and that was great...I assumed you keep your quality up but you dropped the ball on this. NEVER AGAIN!
