I would have preferred to have had examples of proper role playing shown to us either before or after we “practiced”. There were times I felt I could have used more expert coaching advise.

Inspiring Change with a Client-Centered Approach
Have you ever changed a deep-rooted habit just because someone told you? Chances are you only did so if you developed a sense of trust and rapport with that person—and you were inspired to make the change for yourself.
Long-term behavioral change doesn’t occur simply by educating individuals on what they should and should not do. Coaches need to develop and utilize effective communication strategies to establish a positive and productive client-coach relationship rooted in empathy. A coach educated in behavior change moves away from directing the client and toward guiding the client to be his or her own solution.
In this 5-hour workshop, you will learn best practices in behavior-change science and explore how to practically apply cutting-edge coaching interventions that translate into meaningful lifestyle changes and improved health outcomes.
You will learn:
- How to apply effective communication skills, including active listening and powerful questioning
- How to assess a client’s readiness for change and design a behavioral intervention accordingly
- How to implement various coaching techniques and behavior-change strategies, including motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral coaching, to facilitate lasting behavior change
Please note that there are no prerequisite educational requirements for the Behavior Change in Practice workshop.

Great teacher, and fun info-rich class.
This course was really helpful to take because it allowed for the opportunity to practically discuss and role play some of the topics and scenarios I had studied preparing for my health coach exam. It also presented the opportunity to think about how you would practically apply the techniques in real world coaching situations.
Great speaker, great information!
The material from the course I received at the workshop I often use it as a resource for what I eat, when and why I eat. I was hoping for a longer workshop but Fitness Pointe reduced the hours. It was nice with lunch provided too. Debi and I instantly connected and got to visit after the others left. I look forward to going to other ACE workshops and become ACE certified. I eventually want the fitness and nutrition specialist but i don't have a health degree. I'm saving money so I can train with ACE! Going to workshops helps me expand my learning more and eager how to apply what I learned!
