Health and fitness professionals are on the front lines in helping clients adopt healthy behavior changes. In this course, participants will gain familiarity with and basic competency in core behavior change strategies including motivational interviewing, cognitive coaching, smart goal setting, and implementation of the “5As” framework for structuring a coaching intervention. This course is taught by Natalie Digate Muth, MD, MPH, RD, FAAP, a board-certified pediatrician and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a Diplomat of the American Board of Obesity Medicine, registered dietitian and board-certified specialist in sports dietetics, and ACE Certified Health Coach.
You will learn:
- Learn how to describe the major features of effective behavior change interventions
- Gain familiarity with basic motivational interviewing techniques
- Receive instruction on how to conduct a 15-minute coaching session using the 5As
