About
I have worked in the fitness industry for the past five years as a Group Fitness Instructor for Stroller Strides and BODY BACK. Our classes are designed for the pre/post natal client with stroller aged children. Since I became involved with Stroller Strides I have worked as an instructor, a San Diego Assistant Fitness Director and an Instructor Mentor - recruiting, coaching and teaching new and current instructors. Along with my pre/post natal certification, I also became certified in L.E.A.N. (Learn Eating and Awareness Nutrition) through Stroller Strides. Through this program I have helped mothers regain their "pre-baby" body (or better!) through an intensive program focused on learning and "re-programming" the psychological/behavioral aspects involved with creating a healthy lifestyle. Prior to having my first child, I worked in education for 10 years. I have an M.A. in teaching. I spent my youth and young adult life as a long distance competitive athlete. I swam at the collegiate, national and international level. I have worked as an ocean front lifeguard for the past 12 summers and have competed in both local and national lifeguard competitions. For the four years just prior to the birth of my first child, I trained and competed in open water paddleboard racing. In 2003, I placed 2nd at the Hermosa Beach U.S. Championships, 5th at the World Championships in Oahu, HI and placed 2nd in the Molokai-Oahu 32 mile championship in the tandem event that year. Through competing in swimming, surf racing and paddling I have extensive knowledge of sport specific cardiovascular and strength training. As a mother of two I have also had the great pleasure of returning my body to a lean healthy shape that feels even stronger than before I had children!! Healthy, active, strong and BALANCED living is my philosophy. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and expertise to help others achieve their health, fitness and wellness goals.
