Fat Metabolism and Gender Differences Online CE Course reviews and discusses research documenting and explaining sex differences in fat metabolism, body composition, and physiology. In-depth topics explore body fat storage and distribution in the body, body type and cardiovascular risk, body fat risk assessment to disease, fat mobilization and utilization, and hormone and enzyme function in fat metabolism. Differences in fat metabolism at rest and during exercise conditions are discussed. In addition, explanations of the physiological mechanisms involved with substrate fuel utilization during exercise are presented. Practical applications of exercise for the most favorable fat metabolism are fully discussed, including what exercise intensity burns the greatest amount of fat. Authored by: Len Kravitz, PhD, and Chantal Vella, PhD
