Exercise and Nutrient Timing: Recovery

If breakfast is the most important meal of the day, the postexercise meal runs a close second. This workshop addresses several critical aspects of postexercise nutrition including: 1) understanding the body's catabolic metabolic state postexercise and how to convert it to an anabolic state; 2) how to use nutrient timing to take advantage of the muscle cells heightened receptivity to nutrients in the postexercise period; 3) the importance of the combination of carbohydrates and protein to elevate both glycogen resynthesis and protein synthesis, thus speeding recovery; 4) translation of research recommendations into easy-to-achieve meal suggestions for clients.
