Bridging the Fitness Age Gap

It has become popular opinion that as we age, we deteriorate…losing strength, energy and flexibility. The adage of “use it or lose it” is appropriately applied to this antiquated theory. If we continue to keep our bodies active through all stages of life we can successfully ward off physical decline and greatly improve not only quantity but quality of life. Aerobic exercise is important to keep the heart and lungs functioning well. Muscular strength & endurance exercise is important to maintain body structure, increase bone density, enhance metabolism and deter muscle wasting. A crucial component to any fitness regimen will be the addition of functional training – balance, stabilization & coordination.
