Cardio programming for many is just having the clients ( and athletes) do time- run long distances no matter what their sport demands are. Not that aerobic training isn’t important, but in this workshop we will look at the myths of most types of training. We will look at interval training in a new light- where and when should intervals be put in. Even more important what should they look like for each sport or individual. Using a simple 5 Phase energy system development program we will address systems true needs and not just putting in time. An important part of putting in any cardio program is the assessment. We will discuss the best way to assess your client and then how to use this data to create the cardio progressions. The assessment needs to also be use to prevent over-reaching so we will discuss how to use assessments throughout their program to make sure they are improving while preventing a plateau. The final stage is to put a productive schedule together. We will discuss periodization for all levels of fitness. Using real examples we can create a 4-6 week progression for any team or individual weight loss client to get the most of their cardio sessions.
