As I have a good understanding of nutrition, I didn't learn anything new. Additionally, there was quite a bit of misinformation, such as talking about the healthfulness of dairy products & milk especially (which in particular has been scientifically shown to have so many negative effects in the body). Also a lot of talk about how plant foods are incomplete proteins & thus inferior protein sources, which has mostly been shown to be irrelevant if enough variety is consumed throughout the day or even over the course of a few days. Also about how more protein was needed when on a lower-calorie diet, because the protein needs to be used for fuel in addition to its regular roles, which makes NO sense because carbs are the body's preferred fuel source. Basically, this course was at best uneducational and at worse misinformative.

Great course, Dr. Kleiner made the concepts relevant and the examples easy to understand as well. The PDF's were also easy to follow.

The podcast cuts off before talking about the Paleo diet, however, I still got the information from the download.

ACE RESPONSE:  Thank you Valerie for your feedback!  We're sorry you had technical issues with the pod cast.  An ACE representative will contact you soon.

Wish it were more than 0.20 CECs because it was the longest and most amount of new information.

The one thing I would have liked to have seen discussed would have been emerging research on Intermittent Fasting.

ACE RESPONSE:  Thank you Megan for your feedback, and thanks for the suggestion!

It's a really basic course. Some of it personal trainers really should already know and some of it is common sense. But it's a good reinforcement of very basic nutrition concepts. It doesn't really address macro balance in specific terms (i.e. % of each macro needed based on activity level, etc). So the title of the course could be misleading.

I am not sure who the target audience is for this unit but it was a joke. I scanned the articles, listened to 8 minutes of the podcast and passed the quiz. The quiz questions were subjective in some cases and remedial in others. Seriously, this was pathetic. How is knowing that a dr. Thinks weight loss is an outcome or knowing the supposed ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 intake in America important?

An hour and a half podcast from somebody who is not good at public speaking is painful to listen to.

    Very confusing questions.

Very informative and straight to the point for anyone needing a refresher on macronutrients.

Outdated and incorrect information in this module. It needs to be updated to correct and remove information that contradicts itself. I would not recommend this for CEC.

ACE RESPONSE: Thank you for your feedback. ACE Professional Education staff will be incontact with you shortly to address your specific concerns.

Good basic information of the nutrients but not much practical application.

    2/24/13 6:19 PM

Great collection of information. Especially like that multiple opinions were sought for a variety of issues.

Very clear and direct explaining clearly just make sure to read all material! It will help.

    11/22/12 6:44 PM

I found the information on the study guide did not include all of the necessary information to pass the quiz. I had to search external sources of information to complete the quiz .. also it did not let you see which answers you got correct and which were incorrect. So far I have enjoyed all of the ace cecs except this one. I would not recomend this course. It was somewhat informative however

Good overall course especially for those who are IAFF/IAFC Peer Fitness Trainers. Covered material that we only briefly spoke about during the course. I would like to see the material presented in the course in PDF format as well for our reference. Thanks
