Empower clients to overcome barriers to weight management
Exercise is the best predictor of long-term weight management, but it can still be difficult to adhere to. In this webinar, you’ll learn theory- and evidence-based methods to enable your clients to overcome lifestyle barriers and incorporate self-regulatory skills to achieve long-term weight management success. Some of these skills include relapse prevention, cognitive restructuring, stimulus protocol and proximal goal adjustments.
Led by James J Annesi, Ph.D., Vice President of Health Initiatives for the Central Coast YMCA, you’ll delve into topics including behavior-change theory, self-regulated eating, weight management, human performance and the association of physical activity with mental health, body image, emotional eating and other quality-of-life factors.
Upon completion, you will be able to:
- Understand the problem of exercise adherence and utilize behavioral methods to help your clients stick to their regular exercise routines and reduce client dropout
- Help clients establish self-regulatory skills that are transferable to controlled eating
- Apply coaching tools that assist clients in establishing mood improvements to help counter emotional eating
