About Joan Varacalli: I have been teaching group fitness since 1993 in clubs, corporate centres, community centres and, since 2005 in my own business. I became certified for group fitness first through CAIN and OFC then ACE. Around 2001 I took some time off to immerse myself in classical hatha yoga teacher training which has been a great benefit for me and my clients since so many of us need to learn to deal with stress in life and to step back and take a breath. Most clients have been women although I do train men as well. They want to regain health and stay in or get in better shape for their families and for life in general and I help them do that by helping them set goals and by giving them encouragement to not give up if/when they have set backs. I am grateful for ACE and IDEA for providing me with the tools I need to work with my clients. Right now I am upgrading my certification to include Seniors fitness since a lot of my clients are in their 50's and 60's and many have health issues and I want to continue to teach them safely and effectively. The learning never stops in this profession.
