About

I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology and completed 5 semesters of a Doctorate in Physical Therapy but unable to continue. I completed an 8 week clinical in a sports rehabilitation and skilled nursing facility. I am currently working on Massage Therapy Certificate and will complete program at the end of 2011. As a personal trainer, I believe that a baseline in strength, flexibility, and aerobic capacity needs to be determined based on clients goals and client input is essential in developing a successful, long-term exercise plan. It is very important to ease new clients into their workout routines to increase the chance of sticking with their workout routines. The first month or two of the workout program should be higher reps and lower intensity to prevent muscle soreness and other factors that may cause clients to stop working out. Workout routine needs to be changed up severaltimes a year to prevent burnout and help with maintanence of exercise program. Developing a fundamental strength(especially in the core) and aerobic capacity is neccessary when working with clients that have higher functional goals related to sports. When these fundamental capacities are reached then you can work toward increasing strength, power, speed, quickness, reaction time, and other sports related skills. Avoiding burnout is also important in sports, so after a season is over, individuals should rest completely or lift light weights only for a certain period depending on how long the offseason is.
