About Janet Franz: Janet Franz uses a combination of professional training and personal experience to motivate people to achieve optimal health and fitness. A professional group exercise instructor and personal trainer since 1993, Janet is certified by the American Council on Exercise, Aerobics and Fitness Association of America, and Les Mills. She trains clients in community centers, work sites, private homes, and health clubs in Chittenden County, Vermont. Her specialty classes include muscle conditioning, core strength and stability, mat Pilates, traditional and step aerobics, Body Pump®, Body Flow®, senior fitness, youth fitness, and marathon running for beginners. She has participated in a variety of athletic challenges, including running five marathons, power lifting competitions, Dragon Boat racing, and alpine ski racing. She is also a mother with recent personal experience in post-natal and post-surgical conditioning. A professional freelance writer, Janet covers health, travel, family and community topics for magazines and newspapers. She serves as chairwoman for the Vermont Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, appointed by Governor Jim Douglas in 2007 and currently serving under Governor Peter Shumlin.
