Posted: Feb 24, 2026 in ACE Press Releases
San Diego, Calif., February 24, 2026 — The American Council on Exercise (ACE), in collaboration with Irene McCormick, MS, CSCS, today announced the launch of Menopause Mentor, a new continuing education course designed to help health and exercise professionals better support women through the menopausal transition.
Menopause Mentor equips health and fitness professionals with an enhanced understanding of the hormonal, physiological, psychological, and social changes associated with menopause and provides practical strategies for applying this knowledge through individualized exercise programming and lifestyle coaching.
“Menopause is a transformative stage in a woman’s life that is often surrounded by misconceptions and misunderstanding,” said Sabrena Jo, PhD, ACE Senior Director of Science and Education. “The Menopause Mentor course offers science-based education to help health and exercise professionals better serve women navigating menopause with confidence and care.”
Course curriculum highlights include:
-
The latest research on how hormonal and physiological changes may influence exercise performance and recovery
-
Common psychological and social challenges clients may experience, along with guidance for supportive, informed communication
-
Strategies for designing safe, personalized fitness and wellness programs for women in different stages of menopause
-
Behavior-change coaching tools to help clients build sustainable habits related to fitness, nutrition, stress management, and sleep
“By better understanding and managing this natural life stage, women can improve their health, enhance their well-being, and embrace menopause as a period of growth and change,” said Irene McCormick, MS, CSCS, course creator, and internationally recognized, award-winning fitness professional with extensive expertise in menopausal health.
Each year, an estimated 47 million women worldwide transition into menopause. Rather than dismissing symptoms as “just aging,” ACE encourages health and fitness professionals to deepen their understanding of the science behind menopause, so women feel supported and empowered — not limited — during this life stage. Menopause Mentor reinforces that menopause is not a signal to slow down, but an opportunity to train smarter, more strategically, and with greater confidence.
The Menopause Mentor is now available through ACE. For more information or to enroll, visit https://www.acefitness.org/continuing-education/course/4a5yxxz7z/menopause-mentor/.
