He was also a former instructor at the National Personal Training Institute and taught classes in personal training, CPR/AED, kettlebells and tactical programming. Kurt is also licensed Sports Nutritionist and Licensing Instructor for the National Association of Sports Nutrition and a certified Instructor of CPR/AED for the American Heart Association. Kurt is certified in Kettlebell, Boxing conditioning, and TRX suspension training. Kurt has several training awards including an Academic Achievement Award from the International Sports and Sciences Association and was chosen to be Fitness Ambassador to work the High Performance Training Center during the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Kurt is a competitive martial artist and self defense instructor. He recently competed with the U.S. National Stickfighting Team and earned a Bronze Medal at the World Championships in 2008 and a Silver and Gold Medal in 2010. He currently trains in Ninpo Taijutsu, Nishio-Ryu Iaido, Doce Pares Escrima and Krav Maga. He is a level three certified Self-Defense Instructor certifed in Kung-Fu Fitness, Boxing Training and Advanced Boxing Training.
