Health Coach Careers

No matter how professionals use the ACE Health Coach Certification, the expertise they gain in behavior change, physical activity and nutrition helps them enhance the knowledge they use on the job.

Here are a few success stories of ACE Certified Health Coaches who are applying their expertise in the fields of healthcare, education, fitness, allied health and coaching.

Theresa Brosche, RN

Theresa Brosche, RN

A former intensive care unit nurse, Theresa now serves as an educator at two nursing schools and as an independent personal trainer. She was also recently appointed to the Virginia State Board of Health.

"Many of the patients I cared for in the hospital had chronic diseases that left them debilitated, critically ill or dying. My goal as a personal trainer was to assist my clients in avoiding this side of the health care continuum. The ACE Health Coach Certification was the next logical step for me."
Teresa Beshwate, MPH

Teresa Beshwate, MPH

A master of public health with experience in the fitness, acute care and older adult industries, Teresa has a passion for helping older adults engage in lifestyles of active, successful aging. As director of operations at Masterpiece Living, she specializes in helping senior adults adopt healthier lifestyles.

"At Masterpiece Living, we focus on four main areas: physical, social, spiritual and intellectual. My ACE Certification helps me assist people in the physical dimension, especially when it comes to nutrition, fitness and chronic disease management."
Lee Jordan

Lee Jordan

After losing nearly 300 pounds, Lee pursued an ACE Certification and now runs his own health coaching business, specializing in clients who need to lose at least 100 pounds. He connects one-on-one and virtually, as he works with people nationwide.

"Coaching isn’t about instructing or directing as much as it is about understanding and influencing. The ACE Health Coach Certification program delivers excellent tools around communication, like active listening and cognitive coaching."
Andrea Metcalf

Andrea Metcalf

As a national speaker and expert on behavior modification and fitness, Andrea shares her expertise with radio and TV networks in Chicago and syndicated shows nationwide. She is a 30-year veteran of the health and fitness industry, and a long-time ACE Certified Professional.

"The Health Coach Certification helps you address the whole person. It allows you to address the psychological side, to really develop the mental understanding you need to help someone transform their body."
Nancey Tsai, MD

Nancey Tsai, MD

An assistant professor of neurosurgery at the Medical University of South Carolina, Dr. Tsai is also a respected orthopedic surgeon who completed her residency at Stanford University. She emphasizes the importance of health coaching in the medical profession as a means for providers to better connect with patients.

"I think the interface of using health coaches in a clinical setting is going to really make an impact. It’s not about addressing this organ or this pathology; it’s looking at the whole picture, stepping back and finding out what barriers are keeping you from achieving what it is that you want to achieve."
Beth Read

Beth Read

As a family nurse practitioner, Beth was having a hard time discussing behavior change with patients in 15‑minute office visits. She now successfully utilizes her ACE Health Coach Certification daily during appointments and separately through one-on-one health coaching.

"I believe that one of the missing elements in healthcare is the accountability and encouragement that an ACE Certified Health Coach can provide."
Brad Hannon, DC

Brad Hannon, DC

As the lead chiropractor at Hannon Chiropractic, Dr. Hannon utilizes health coach strategies with his patients on a daily basis. For those who need additional help, he directs them to more in-depth health coaching services offered by his wife, ACE Certified Health Coach Monique Hannon.

"If there was anything lacking in our education as chiropractors it was how to motivate, encourage and guide. I was already making health recommendations to my patients prior to earning my certification, but now I understand the psychology behind those recommendations better."
Gina Crome, RD, MPH

Gina Crome, RD, MPH

Also a registered dietitian, Gina offers nutrition services, personal training and wellness programs through her company, Lifestyle Management Solutions.

"It doesn’t matter whether you are practicing as a registered dietitian or a fitness professional; I would say the skillset of a health coach applies to anyone working with people and change."
Billie Frances, MA

Billie Frances, MA

A licensed marriage and family therapist, Billie Frances also serves as a professional coach and founder of Guiding Mindful Change. In addition to working one-on-one with clients, she also educates fellow coaches who work with clients and patients seeking wellness.

"The additional expertise I gained in nutrition and physical activity really helped me structure my coaching from a stronger base of knowledge."
