Computer-based Testing (CBT) has become the most popular way to take the ACE fitness certification exam due to the convenience it provides. You can take the exam at one of numerous testing centers throughout the year offering flexible scheduling options, dates and locations.
- All CBT exams are proctored and cannot be taken on personal computers.
- Due to limited seating capacity at CBT sites, exam dates and times are subject to sellout, so register early.
- All CBT registrants must must hold current CPR and AED at the time of registration that is still valid on the selected exam date.
What are the Benefits of CBT?
Computer-based Testing is a good choice if you want more flexibility in deciding when and where you take the exam. Many people find it more convenient to have options to sit for the exam throughout the year instead of on a limited schedule. You will also receive your results immediately upon completion of the exam; whereas with traditional paper & pencil exams it can take four to six weeks.

- Detailed Exam Location information will be available 21 days prior to the exam
- You may sit for the live paper and pencil exam without proof of CPR and AED; however, you will not receive your results until you provide proof of a current CPR and AED certificate.

The Pencil and Paper format is a good choice if you prefer a traditional testing format for your ACE certification exam. It also provides a more economical option compared to Computer-based Testing (CBT).
