Boot Camp 2 by Moms Into Fitness is a fitness DVD for moms. It offers 6 different core workouts, meant to be used as a progression post-pregnancy. The instructor, Lindsay Brin, offers modifications for conditions such as diastasis recti as well as concentrating on the pelvic floor. Also included on the DVD are 6-10 minute cardio and toning segments. These can be mixed and matched to fit moms new schedule. Warm-up and cool-down are emphasized as well as 3 different levels to follow according to moms fitness level.
It includes a variety of exercises to keep the body challenged. The 8-week program can be used as a natural progression as mom slowly gets back into the swing of her routine 6-8 weeks after giving birth.

Boot camp style workouts have become popular in the group fitness setting with all fitness levels, including busy moms. Lindsay Brin combines quick and efficient choreographed at-home workouts into an 8-week program in an effort to “flatten your tummy.”
Lindsay Brin’s Boot Camp 2 is an 8-week program designed for busy moms featuring an interval training format that combines a warm-up, core workout, total body cardio workout and cool-down for an approximate 24-minute workout. All the exercises are customized for beginners, intermediate and advanced levels. The 8-week plan is detailed; however; the six different 10-minute workouts and six progressive 5-minute core sessions are separate selections allowing for a customized program of up to 300 workout combinations. The necessary equipment includes a towel and 1-2 sets of weights depending on the exerciser’s level.
The DVD is truly designed for all fitness levels. The same three women, representing each fitness level (beginner, intermediate and advanced) perform each workout allowing the exerciser to see the modifications and follow the appropriate model. The cueing and demonstration of common mistakes and proper activation of the core are excellent and continuous throughout each workout segment. Understanding and utilizing correct technique is necessary to properly train the abdominals and help “flatten your tummy.” Although the progressions are appropriate, exercisers should be sure to master the movements in the level 1 workouts (Weeks 1 and 2) before moving to the next level.
Brin addresses a very common postpartum issue and culprit of the mommy pooch, diastasis recti. She explains and demonstrates how to test for it; however, it would be recommended for moms who have it to seek more information from a professional, especially regarding movements to avoid.
Overall, this would be a great addition to a busy mom’s fitness routine, but not to be relied on as the sole workout. As with any exercise program and especially for a new mom, seek physician’s clearance before beginning this or any exercise program.
