The ACE Health Coach Curriculum for colleges and universities was created for institutions with exercise science and/or recreation programs that would like a comprehensive educational solution allowing students to graduate with both a degree and nationally recognized, NCCA-accredited fitness certification. Through the incorporation of a course that focuses on preparation for an ACE certification, a college or university provides students with the best opportunity for success as they prepare to begin their career in the fitness and wellness industry. Further, for institutions seeking accreditation of their Exercise Science or Personal Training programs through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), partnering with a certification organization like ACE can help. ACE’s NCCA-accredited certification programs will assist your institution in meeting the requirements to earn and retain your CAAHEP-accreditation. For more information on CAAHEP-accreditation for exercise science or personal training programs please visit www.coaes.org

ACE provides the curriculum, instructor materials and license at no cost, giving educators the resources and tools necessary to assist students as they prepare to sit for an ACE certification exam. The curriculum is designed to provide a foundation for the instructor to teach a semester-long course based on two, 50-minute classes per week. Instructor materials include:

  • Course syllabus (correlates to chapters in the ACE Health Coach Manual)
  • Course topic outline / week-by-week planner
  • Lecture presentation
  • Handouts
  • Quizzes
  • Complimentary desk copy/reference materials

The course topic outline is a week-by-week planner for presenting topics found in the ACE Health Coach Manual. It incorporates a chronological template for presenting textbook chapters and their corresponding page numbers, workbook topics and their corresponding page numbers, quizzes, handouts and class activities. The materials provide instructors with the flexibility to expand the lecture and incorporate other materials to enhance the students’ learning experience.
