The BOSU Balance Trainer is a two-sided exercise device consisting of an air-filled dome and a platform. The term “BOSU” stands for “Both Sides Utilized,” meaning that exercisers can use the dome side or the platform side to perform various exercises. Each side offers unique balance challenges for the user, who can perform lying, seated, kneeling, or standing exercises on either side. The bladder (or dome) is molded over a solid, non-skid, non-marking base platform.
What we liked:
- The BOSU Balance Trainer is incredibly versatile as it provides two surfaces on which to perform a large number of exercises.
- In comparison to a stability ball, the BOSU Balance Trainer can accommodate a larger variety of fitness participants because of its versatility.
- The exercises that can be performed sitting, kneeling, or lying on the BOSU are potentially safer than those that are performed on a traditional stability ball because the BOSU is close to the ground and not as mobile, which reduces the risk for falls.
What we didn't like:
- The BOSU Balance Trainer is heavier than other portable training devices, making it more difficult to transport if needed.
- The BOSU Balance Trainer is a bit pricey for a single piece of exercise equipment.
- To safely and effectively use the BOSU Balance Trainer, the exerciser will need to purchase additional instructional materials.
