Leah Okner

ACE Group Fitness Instructor

Ellicott City, Maryland

Leah Okner serves as the assistant director for fitness and wellness at the University of Georgia. During her undergraduate career at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Leah began working in the school's campus recreation department as a personal trainer and group fitness instructor. While pursuing a master's degree in exercise physiology from the University of Illinois, she served as a graduate assistant of strength and conditioning. Upon graduation, Leah accepted a contractor position as a Navy SHAPE Fitness Specialist through Indiana University. In that role, she oversaw the Navy SHAPE Program in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and on Naval Base San Diego, California, where she worked with and collected research on 40-to 60-year-old active duty service members. In her current capacity at the University of Georgia, Leah manages the personal training and group fitness department for recreational sports. She encourages students, faculty and staff to integrate physical activity into their lives through innovative programming at the Ramsey Student Center.
