Operation FitKids Unveils New Fitness Center at Clairemont High School During Grand Opening Event

San Diego, Calif. (Nov. 29, 2004) – Operation Fit Kids (OFK), the youth fitness program of the American Council on Exercise (ACE), recently donated $80,000 in strength and cardiovascular equipment, new flooring and educational materials to establish a new fitness facility at Clairemont High School for student use. Now Operation FitKids wants to share this news with the public. Hundreds of Clairemont High School and adaptive PE students from Marston Middle School will utilize this new facility on a daily basis.

What: Grand opening of new Operation FitKids fitness facility at Clairemont High School and ribbon cutting ceremony.

The San Diego City Council will recognize ACE’s efforts to renovate the facility with an official proclamation to be presented at the ceremony.

Where: Clairemont High School, 4150 Ute Dr, San Diego

When: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2004

Why: Operation FitKids was the vision of ACE President Ken Germano to provide equipment and educational resources to area schools and community centers.

Who: Public officials appearing at the event with Clairemont High School Principal Nellie Meyer include:

  • Ken Germano, ACE president and founder of Operation FitKids
  • Bruce Ward, San Diego City Schools director of physical education, health & athletics
  • Mary Blackman, San Diego County Office of Education PE and health coordinator
  • Bruce Kaplan of Hoist Fitness (equipment donator)

We invite you to attend this event and meet Ken Germano and Deirdre Kleske, director of Operation FitKids. Both will be available for interviews to talk about how the fitness center has become an asset to Clairemont High School.
