American Council on Exercise (ACE) Announces Certification Exam Dates and Sites through Spring 2002

SAN DIEGO – Fitness enthusiasts have the opportunity each season to turn their passion into a profession by registering to take the American Council on Exercise’s (ACE) certification exams. The world’s largest nonprofit fitness certifying organization will hold exams in approximately 30 cities across the U.S. and Canada on: · November 3, 2001
· February 9, 2002
· May 4, 2002

See attached list of cities and dates. Sites may be added throughout the year. Information about test sites and dates in other countries is available on the ACE Web site, www.acefitness.org/getcertified.

The exact testing site for each city holding the exam will be available three weeks prior to the date, via ACE’s Certification Infoline. By calling the ACE Infoline at (800) 825-3636, exercise enthusiasts can also get more information on the four ACE certifications: Personal Trainer–for individuals who are skilled in the principles of exercise and one-on-one training; Group Fitness Instructor–for those who have demonstrated their ability to lead group exercise programs safely and expertly; Lifestyle and Weight Management Consultant–for individuals who have demonstrated their ability to offer comprehensive weight-management consulting that addresses nutritional behavioral modification, as well as fitness; and Clinical Exercise Specialist–ACE’s advanced personal trainer certification—to effectively work with clients with chronic health conditions or that have recovered from an illness or injury. Information on how to order exam preparation manuals and register for an exam preparation review course can also be requested.

The early bird registration fee for the Group Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer, and Lifestyle & Weight Management Consultant exams is $175 and must be postmarked six weeks prior to the exam date. The regular registration fee is $200 and must be postmarked 30 days prior to the exam date. Walk-ins will be accepted on a stand-by basis and will pay $225 to sit for the exam. ACE’s advanced certification, Clinical Exercise Specialist, early bird registration fee is $225 and must be postmarked six weeks prior to the exam date. Instructors certified by ACE join a select group of professionals who uphold the highest standards in the fitness industry and have the technical expertise required to provide safe and effective exercise instruction to the public. ACE-certified professionals have access to additional services to enhance their careers, including an ACE registry to further job placement, continuing education programs to help keep fitness knowledge current and practical training courses to hone practical skills through hands-on training.
